Ogden In-house Academy - Law Enforcement Bicycle Association Bicycle "A" Course Ogden City Community Policing unit will be conducting a basic bicycle patrol class for law enforcement Officers interested in becoming certified through LEBA (Law Enforcement Bicycle Association).  Ogden has unique trails that stretch for miles on the Wasatch Front and a paved parkway that goes along the Ogden & Weber River for ten plus miles.  One night ride will be conducted during the week to familiarize officers how having lighting or no lighting can impact your vision and depth perception.  Please be physically prepared prior to the first day of class to complete each ride and make sure you are hydrated.

There is a fee involved:

COST: $200 (Due by May 1st, 2022 unless prior arrangements are made.)

POST Defensive Tactics Instructor - Phase 1 The Defensive Tactics Instructor course is for those officers who desire to be recognized as a POST certified Defensive Tactics Instructor.

The following requirements must be completed in order to receive the instructor certification:
-Successfully complete “Phase 1” (Spring) and “Phase 2” (Fall), 40 hour defensive tactics instructor courses.
-Instruct 40 hours of defensive tactics techniques under the supervision of a current POST certified defensive tactics instructor.

Officers beginning the program must attend the spring course first and then the fall course. Defensive Tactics Instructor certification is valid for three years upon completion of all required training listed above.

POST Instructor Development - Classroom Facilitator The POST Instructor Development Program provides the knowledge and skills to design, develop, and implement training courses. The newly designed course is founded on best practices of evidence-based learning, which include professionalism in training, the neurobiology of learning, active learning strategies, and competency evaluation.

The classroom facilitator course builds on the concepts of evidence-based professional learning, including facilitating classroom engagement through activities, assessments, classroom management, and technology integration. Participants will be given the opportunity to develop a classroom instructional strategy that incorporates skills obtained in the course.
